Glink Professional & Enterprise Editions, update 8.0.2 is available

Glink Professional and Enterprise Editions, updates 8.0.2 are now available. Your local distributor can download them for installation on production sites. These updates are available free of charge to customers with a service contract for Glink Professional or Enterprise Edition. Customers with a service contract for Glink Standard Edition can upgrade at a special discount. Customers with no service contract must purchase a license upgrade.

Release number

This release is based on the R8.0 source tree, and is regarded as a maintenance update of that release.

The release is primarily a maintenance release that corrects errors detected in the 8.0.1 release.

The details of errors corrected are documented in the known error pages of our web server and are listed in the announcement for our technical list.

The release does have some minor functional improvements, briefly:

GlFTP, added info tips
Glink, added Quality of Service option
Glink, added Ctrl+Ins = Copy for keyboard marking
Glink, mouse click for focus change has no other effect
Glink, use security icon for PuTTY connections
Glink, added forward/backward/delete word 3270 emulation functions
Glink, added 3270 keyboard attribute commands
Glink, added keyboard fast cursor move commands
Glink, added keyboard cursor shape selection
Glink, added keyboard paste as block
Glink, learn defaults to save in user script directory
Glink, learn adds .scrgl extension

Some notes:

The Quality of Service (QoS) option is added as part of an investigation we are doing to see if Glink can benefit from QoS. At the moment the options displayed there are the ones that are standard in Windows, and they are not suitable for use asis. Selecting one of them may cause problems if you are using a VPN. This feature will be extended and documented as we gain experience with networks offering QoS.

Many of the other features are either 3270 emulation functions, or features that allow keyboard configuration to be similar to other 'industry standard' 3270 emulations.

The 'learn' improvements refer to the Glink automatic script generation feature, whereby you can record quite a complicated dialog, and have it generated as a script that gives more functionality than a simple macro would have. You will note that 'learn' has been added to the default toolbar.
