Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E1049: Ggate, DIWS protocol did not work for Windows servers

Product: Ggate
Platform: Windows
Status: Fixed in 6.3. Fix available for 6.2.
Last updated: 2005-05-09 10:00:57

Ggate was unable to locate the interprocess communication pipe
that is used to communicate with the DIWS version of the
Listener on the Windows platforms. Connection attempts failed.
An error message:

  "Start of line module failed"

was sent back to the user.

Avoidance procedure:

Use DSA protocol rather than DIWS. DIWS introduces an unecessary
protocol mapping layer on the mainframe side that is unreliable
in some situations. DSA avoids this mapping and gives better
performance (less mainframe overhead). DSA should always be
chosen unless there are very compelling reasons for using DIWS,
and we are not aware of any.
