Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E1133: G3270/Gweb3270 national characters displayed incorrectly

Product: Gweb3270, G3270
Platform: All
Status: Fixed for 6.4. Fix available for 6.3, and 6.2.
Last updated: 2006-09-06 09:20:47

The 3270 emulation in G3270 and Gweb3270 erroneously defaulted to assuming that the EBCDIC character set being used by the mainframe was a restricted national set. In general this could only work correctly if the -XL (national transliteration) parameter was set for all countries that use a national character set.

Everything works correctly for the normal alphanumeric character set as used in the USA.

The correction makes G3270/Gweb3270 default to the IBM International character set (code page 00500), and works for most western european countries as regards national character sets.

If you are a Gweb3270 or G3270 user, and use -XL to select a restricted character set, there is no change.

If your IBM mainframe uses some national EBCDIC character set (rather than International) you need to discuss with your supplier or G&R, before using G3270/Gweb3270.

Note that the restriction and correction only apply to G3270 and Gweb3270.

Glink (Windows and Java) and GlinkWeb (.NET and Java) support a wide range of single and double-byte character sets in all emulations, including 3270 and 5250.
