Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E1158: Glink, reconnection loop if persistent network/host failure

Product: Glink Professional Edition
Platform: All Win32
Status: Fixed in 8.0.7, 7.2.6
Last updated: 2007-03-28 10:27:26

When the 'Settings->General->Disconnect action' is set to 'Reconnect'
Glink will immediately try to reconnect after a disconnection. If
there is a persistent network failure, or if the host system
continually rejects the connections, then the tight reconnection loop
could cause problems. There is now a 2 seconds wait before initiating
each reconnect.

Work-around is to use a script for connection/reconnection. Your Glink
command line should use /d to stop initial connection, and specify a
start-up script that will connect, and set up a trap for the
disconnect event:

  gl.exe /d /s connect_loop.scrgl

* trace on only for testing
abort none * no way to turn off the background script

  * turn off the reconnect option in Glink config
  * or use cfix to turn off reconnect
  * 1821  1       byte    Disconnect action
  * (0=None, 1=Terminate, 2= Reconnect)

  * cfix 1821 0

  reset offline * reset offline event
  netconnect * connect using Glink parameters
  if offline goto beendisc * connect failed, wait and try again
				* connected
  on offline goto beendisc * trap offline event
  online * Go online, trap now in background

* script in background waiting for offline event
* Glink session proceeds as normal

:beendisc * The offline event trap handler
  delay 2 * Delay for 2 seconds before connecting
  goto connect  * Try again
