Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0147: Video handler cleanup may leave shared memory and /tmp files

Product: Host Links 4.0, Basic
Platform: Any
Status: Closed, fixed in 4.0.2 and 4.1.0
Last updated: 1996-10-04 14:15:30

When an application using a video handler is terminated by simply
disconnecting the terminal or killing the process owning the pseudo
terminal, then sometimes the cleanup routine is not run correctly. The
cleanup routine is responsible for removing a shared memory segment
and three /tmp/sxvideo-* files. The symptom normally seen as a result of
this error is that program startup fails with an error message of:
	gv_xxxx: shmget failed
gv_xxxx: No space left on device
	gv_xxxx: Fatal error, terminating.

The problem has so far only been observed on the Sun Solaris and IBM AIX
platforms, and even there only intermittently.
