Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0364: Gspool/NT, new parameters for Windows print formatting

Product: Gspool
Platform: Windows NT
Status: fixed in 5.0.2
Last updated: 1998-01-12 09:35:37

In order to provide better control we have added some new parameters to
Gspool to override default settings for the printer driver:

1. Parameters for setting left, right, top, and bottom margins on the page.
These default to an "aesthetically pleasing" value, but by
setting them to 0 you can go nearly all the way to the edge of the page.
   They are:

   -plm
   -prm
   -ptm
   -pbm <...and bottom>

2. Parameters for selecting a specific font, and specifying the font size:

-pfs The default font size is 10.
-pfn "" Without this, Gspool uses the printer's default
monotype font. The font name should be in quotes
if it's more than one word i.e.
                             -pfn Courier
                        but
                             -pfn "Lucida Sans Typewriter"

3. Parameter for selecting portrait or landscape mode.

   -por [d|p|l] Selects defaul/portrait/landscape mode.

4. Parameter for selecting draft, normal, or proof quality print-outs.

-pqu [n|d|p] Selects normal/draft/proof quality printing.

Note that these parameters DO NOT work when transparent printing is
switched on (with the -TP ON option) because, by definition, transparent
printing sends characters to the printer as directly as possible, without
trying to control the presentation, which is presumed to be controlled by
the host.

As an example the following, new parameters:

-por l -pfs 8 -plm 0

selects landscape mode, sets the font size to 8, and prints as close to
the left side of the page as possible. If the printer is set to print in
landscape mode by default, you don't need to specify "-por l".
