Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0385: Glink, PPP AutoDial box displayed for all TCP/IP con

Product: Glink for Windows 6.0/6.1 32-bit
Platform: Win32
Status: Patches available for 6.0.2/6.0.4/6.1.3, Cfix for 6.1.4
Last updated: 1999-02-12 17:05:09

The PPP dial-up box gets displayed when Glink tries to connect
to any TCP/IP address when using the Winsock interface.

This only occurs once Internet Explore 4.0 has been installed
and configured for "Automatic dial-up to the internet" on a PC
with both LAN and dial-up PPP TCP/IP configured.

This is being reported to Microsoft as a bug in IE 4.0.

Other applications using advanced Win32 GUI functions (toolbar,
tabbed dialog boxes, etc.) and using the Winsock interface see
exactly the same symptoms as Glink.

Patch for 6.0.2/6.0.4/6.1.3
Whilst waiting for a Microsoft correction, specific work-around
code has been added to Glink for Windows (32-bit) which may be
enabled via a patch program. These patches are available on request
through your distributor.

Config option for 6.1.4
As there is still not a correction to this bug we have added a
configuration option. This option can be enabled via the CFIX
script command. After applying the CFIX, you must resave the
Glink configuration file. Apply the CFIX as follows:

          File->Script command
                    CFIX 3151 1

None patch work-around:

This dialog box can be disabled via Internet Explorer options:

        View->Internet options...->Connection
                Connect to the internet using the LAN

This will simply require you to start the PPP dial-up before running
Microsoft Internet Explorer.
