Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0502: The Server6 Gkerm Kermit does not terminate

Product: Server6 Gkerm Kermit, used with Glink
Platform: HVX multi-proce
Status: Known error in HVX
Last updated: 1999-03-08 09:03:02

We have had several reports of Gkerm failing to terminate on HVX
systems. In some cases this has been reported to us to occur
with the latest (1995 Gkerm/gl_atd), but not with an earlier
copy (Gkerm/gl_atd 1992).

We don't know if this is a single problem or a couple of
problems, but at least for one customer the problem is now
proven to be an AIX problem. The STAR follows:

STAR Detail

Line : 1 To : 18 Request :

GLINK KERMIT never terminates in multicp environment (CP=4)

In provided dump which is on nc-17 server
GKERM task of group 01 is in MCL 1046.
Same Glink kermit transfert always terminates in mono CP
configuration Thanks in advance for your help.
   Regards.

Detailed reply : Line : 1 To : 14 Request :

The KERMIT tasks have issued a STTY MCL to reset the device
words for the terminal to the initial settings. The system
code for the MCL issued a suspend for .1 seconds between a
disconnect and connect to the terminal. Since the timezones
are not the same on each CP emulator process, the suspend for
.1 second does not wakeup until 60 minutes have elapsed. Each
KERMIT has a one hour delay added before it will terminate.
Please refer to OSCAR CALL 6990115001 for details on how to
avoid the problem during HVX startup.

Please keep G&R updated if you have any problems with Gkerm not
terminating in yourt environment.
