Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0553: Gline, multiple Ggate and Gproxy instances

Product: Host Links, Ggate and Gproxy
Platform: SCO UNIX
Status: Fixed in 5.3, fix available for 5.2.1
Last updated: 1999-08-24 10:45:12

If a client (e.g. Glink) connection through Gproxy or
Ggate did not terminate normally, an extra 'zombie'
Gproxy or Ggate process could be left in memory
waiting for the completion of the logon dialog.
Allthough some of these processes would eventually
be caught by the TCP/IP keepalive logic, others would
be left hanging 'forever'. Over time this could lead
to a large number of zombie processes which could tie
up system resources.

This problem is only seen on UNIX SCO 5.x versions.

Another variant of the problem has been observed
on other platforms, but these were solved by the
correction described by E0524.
