Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0562: Glink/Ggate, break always purges output

Product: Ggate
Platform: All
Status: Fixed in 5.3, the 5.3 fix can be applied to a 5.2 system
Last updated: 1999-09-17 15:03:22

The desired effect of a break varies from GCOS7 to GCOS8, and on
GCOS8 the applications also have different interpretations of
break. Generally GCOS8 applications want a break to supress all
output until the break is acknowledged by the application (known
as a purge, or 'destructive break'). GCOS7 applications do not.
There is also a class of applications on GCOS8 which do not want
purge (e.g. the console manager), the break is issued merely to
'attract attention'. These need the purge to be supressed, but
see a later known error for applications of this type.

This correction introduces a Gline parameter '-brk' with options
'at' (attention) and 'atpglt' (attention and purge output) that
can be applied in dsa.cfg for the host/application, or
introduced as an extra parameter in Glink's Host profile for a
Ggate connection.

The parameter is set to 'at' (attention) by default for GCOS7
connections, and to 'atpglt' (attention and purge output) for
GCOS8 and CXI connections.

Note that the introduction of new parameters cannot be done in a
fix for 5.2, but the corrected line modules for 5.3 are
compatible with 5.2, and are available for use with 5.2 until
5.3 is released.
