Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

Product: All Server6
Platform: All GCOS6
Status: Patch available
Last updated: 1999-12-22 09:50:28

Users of Server6 (including users of the G&R Gkerm Kermit for
GCOS6) are seeing 'TEST PERIOD IS ABOUT TO EXPIRE' messages.

Until 1996 Server6 products could not be stamped with an expiry
date later than 991231. When we fixed this problem we made a
known error and broadcast telling distributors that they needed
to update these licenses.

We are now getting worried messages from users with licenses
about to expire.

Several of our distributors no longer have the capability to run
the licensing program, because they have no GCOS6.

We have therefore generated a license stamp that updates all
Server6 products to (20)501231.

Note that the stamp is a GCOS6 BU (Bound Unit). It must be
transferred binary to GCOS6, If you use Gkerm to do the transfer
from PC to GCOS6 then the GCOS6 file will be in BU format. If
you use Bull Kermit you will need to pre-create the GCOS6 file
using the correct attributes.

After transfer execute it as a GCOS6 command:

   instal >

If you have a 'separat boot and root' installation and your MDD
directory is really >>MDD rather than >MDD you need to do:

   instal >>
