Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0626: Gweb - Permission denied when connecting to line module.

Product: Gweb
Platform: Windows NT
Status: Restriction in IIS, workaround provided.
Last updated: 2000-06-22 15:42:32

When using Microsoft's "Internet Information Server" (IIS) Gweb.exe
cannot connect to the G&R DSA line module. Instead the following
error message is returned:

$$GLAPI: Connecting to line module failed: (0005) Permission denied

The problem is caused by IIS running all commands as an anonymous user
with only Guest privileges. Gweb.exe needs to run as Administrator or
as a member of the Administrators group.

The solution is to use "Internet Information Manager"
(\winnt\system32\inetsrv\inetmgr.exe) supplied with IIS to change the
anonymous user authorisation for Gweb.exe.

By changing the access rights of only Gweb.exe, you will not compromise
the security of IIS and at the same time Gweb will be able to run
without the use of GGate.

Note that changing the authorisation level on idividual files and
directories is only possible in IIS version 4. Those using IIS version
3 will either have to change the anonymous user globally or upgrade
their systems.
