Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0645: Host Links, TNVIP print includes print controls

Product: Gweb, V78sim, Qsim
Platform: All
Status: Fixed for 5.3.1. Fix available. Work-around available.
Last updated: 2000-07-31 16:10:23

When using TNVIP to connect to a resource for which there is a
separate printer session defined, the print output could include
the print addressing escape sequences (Esc Z for DKU and Esc [ 4
p for VIP).

The problem is caused by the TNVIP server. The print is always
sent on the print channel of the TNVIP protocol, but for some
definitions of the printer the server adds 'transparent print'
addressing into the print data stream. Because we transparently
deliver all data on the print channel to the printer, in the
above cases of double printer addressing, the escape sequences
are delivered to the printer. These are obviously unknown to the
printer, and cause problems.

The fix is for the G&R TNVIP printer channel handler to test if
the incoming 'transparent' print block starts with a printer
addressing escape sequence. If so, it is diverted from the
printer to the emulator. The emulation recognizes the printer
addressing escape sequence, and so redirects the print back to
the printer, but with the addressing stripped off in the

There is a work around available. The emulators accept the
parameter '-pt off' which causes them to ignore the print channel
addressing, and send everything into the emulation. The same
parameter can be added to the '-user' section of a Gweb host
session profile (gweb.cfg or cpic.cfg).
