Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0689: Glink, hangs after Glink.Auto OLE connection on Win95/98

Product: Glink for Windows
Platform: Win95/98
Status: Fixed for 6.2.4 and 7.0.1
Last updated: 2000-12-21 19:12:15

If a COM/OLE program created a Glink.Auto object which linked to a Glink
already running on the desktop, then it would hang that Glink as soon as
the object was release. This problem only happened on Win95 and Win98.

Due to a limitation in the Win95 and Win98 platforms, a running instance of
Glink is unable to re-register the Glink.Auto class after it's been
release. This means that the fix included in the 6.2.4 and 7.0.1 is limited
(on Win95 and Win98) to only being able to reconnect once a running
instance of Glink. If all running Glinks refuse to reconnect, then creating
the Glink.Auto object will automatically start a new copy of Glink.

On WinNT 4 and Win2000 this limitation doesn't exist and you can therefore
reconnect to a running copy of Glink as much as you like.
