Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0731: Gweb error for adjacent fields

Product: Gweb
Platform: Any
Status: Fixed in 6.0.1a, available
Last updated: 2001-09-17 16:46:29

When two variable fields were defined immediately adjacent to each other
(e.g. when one field ended in column 20 and the next started in column
21), and the former field was completely filled, Gweb skipped the latter
field when transmitting the field data to the host.

The reason is that when a field is completely filled with data, the
"cursor" position is incremented by one, occupying the first column after
the last character of the field. At that point Gweb automatically
transmits a Tab in order to position the cursor at the beginning of the
next field. However, if the next field started where the cursor was
already positioned, this Tab command moved the cursor away from the field
and onto the next field (if any).

This problem occurs very seldom, because not all terminals had the ability
to define two variable fields immediately following each other, so forms
designers normally had some spacing between fields.
