Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0742: Glink, Euro displayed as '(' in DKU7107 emulation

Product: Glink Professional edition
Platform: Win32
Status: Fixed for 7.1.2
Last updated: 2001-11-06 15:22:39

In previous releases of Glink, extended characters would always be accepted
from the host and therefore accented letters, euros etc would always be
displayed correctly when received from the host. The below option, which
was defaulted to OFF, was only applicable on sending extended characters
back to the host.

  "Settings->Emulation->DKU mode setup->Use SS2 for 8bit chars"

For DKU7107 compatibility, the behaviour of this option was changed in
7.1.0 to also apply to incoming data from the host, but the default was
not changed to ON. This meant that if you loaded a 7.1.0 or 7.1.1 version
of Glink with an old configuration file with this option turned OFF, then
Glink would not interpret the SS2 encoded extended characters sent by the
host and e.g. display the Euro as a parenthesis '('.

Glink 7.1.2 has now been changed:

  - the "Use SS2 for 8bit chars" option is now called "Use extended
    character set"
  - the default for new Glink configuration files is ON
  - if an old config is loaded, then it is also forced to ON
NOTE: if you require this option to be OFF, then load the config
into a 7.1.2 (or above), turn the option OFF and resave it.

The work-around for 7.1.0 and 7.1.1 is to simply turn the "Use SS2 for 8bit
chars" option on manually now and save the configuration.
