Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0777: Gproxy, license sharing lockfile problem

Product: Gproxy
Platform: Windows
Status: Fixed in 6.1.
Last updated: 2002-03-22 17:14:58

Host Links shared licenses are controlled by 'license
lockfiles' which are shared between the license server
(Gproxy) and the actual Host Links application.

The lockfiles are created in the 'tempdir' directory. In
some Windows OS configurations, the 'tempdir' directory
location may vary depending upon the program and the user
who is starting it. With the default Host Links profile
settings, it is actually possible for Gproxy and the Host
link application program to resolve the tempdir location
differently and this will cause license requests to fail
(typically only the first license request will succeed).

This problem has been observed with Gweb. The Gweb
emulation program will be started up as a cgi-script by
the web server and in such cases may end up having a
different 'tempdir' location than the Gproxy (service-)
user.

Avoidance procedure:

Edit the 'tempdir' directive in the

  '..\gar\config\system\profiles'

file to point to some absolute location. e.g.:

 tempdir c:\gar\tmp

(you may need to create this directory first)
