Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0816: Host Links, End Of Message supression by DNS

This known error is related to E0718:

   Glink UVTI and multiple messages without giving turn

The EMI (End of Message Indicator, also known as EOQU, End Of
Quarantine Unit) is suppressed by DNS-E when a DSA200 session
passes through the MainWay. The DSA letters are delivered to the
recipient as EOS (End Of Segment) instead of EOM. This started
happening in DNS-E V2U3 without any known reason from Bull
engineering. Bull will document this information in a Technical
Support Bulletin. Only DSA200 is affected. DSA200 is only used
by GCOS7 products (IOF, TDS, GTwriter). GCOS8 has migrated
DSA200 products, such as TSS, to DSA300. The problem only occurs
if the connection is made using DNS (MainWay).

Users of human interface products, such as emulators (Glink)
will not notice the lack of EOM, unless using an API, see below.
Users of applications that are not sensitive to EOM/EOS
differences, such as Gspool, will not experience a problem.

The problem will be experienced by any Ggate or DGA (Direct GCOS
Access, formerly known as Gline/DSA or LDSA) client using an
API, if the client application is sensitive to EMI signalling
from the mainframe. UVTI applications are often sensitive to the
number of 'messages' coming from the mainframe. The number of
'messages' delivered in a message group is reduced to one when
the EMI is suppressed by DNS.

A work-around fix for UVTI applications was added to Glink 6.2.5
and 7.0.2. See Known Error E0718.

A work-around fix will be added to Host Links 6.1.

The error in DNS will be documented by Bull, but there are no
current plans for a correction.
