Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.


E0822: Ggate, GNSP, all connections fail 'Disconnected by host'

When you install Ggate on UNIX the installation script asks if
you will be using OSI-transport and RFC, or only RFC.

Your choices are:
1. DSA over OSI and RFC1006 (requires OSI stack)
2. DSA over RFC1006 only

Unfortunately the default (both OSI-transport and RFC) is from a
time when OSI-transport was the normal option (Datanets,
MicroFePs, ISL and FCP7/FCP8 without the 'Netshare' option did
not support RFC). If you choose the option to do both, then the
gl_dsa program that is chosen will check for the existence of
the OSI-transport stack as soon as it is started. If there is no
OSI-stack on the system, gl_dsa will terminate, disconnecting
the client (usually Glink) with the message 'Disconnected by
host'.

In R6.1 this will be changed to reflect the current situation,
where RFC is the normal transport stack, and the only option on
most platforms, including the GNSP. In the mean time, please be
careful when choosing the option, to choose RFC only, unless you
are sure that you have an OSI-stack on your system.

Work-around:

If you have installed incorrectly, then you can correct it very
easily. The installation installs both gl_dsa.rfc and
gl_dsa.osi, and then copies the correct one to gl_dsa. You just
need to copy gl_dsa.rfc over gl_dsa. You need to do exactly the
same thing for the listener nl_dsa.rfc to nl_dsa.
