Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0825: Gproxy HTTP redirect problem

Product: Gproxy version 6.0.1 only
Platform: All Unix
Status: Fixed in 6.0.2
Last updated: 2002-09-04 12:16:44

One of Gproxy's services is load balancing, which it does by listening on
the port otherwise used by the Web servers and redirecting incoming HTTP
requests to the Web server having the best set of resources available. This
redirection is not visible to the user at the browser.

HTTP requests are by default (but not necessarily) sent to TCP/IP port
number 80 on the Web server. Due to a permission problem Gproxy version
6.0.1 was not able to listen on a TCP/IP port number less than 1024, and
was thus not able to redirect HTTP requests to the default port.
