Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0840: GlinkW, SET CAPS/NUML fails on Win95/98/ME

Product: Glink for Windows
Platform: Win95/98/ME
Status: SET CAPS fixed for 6.2.8, 7.1.4, SET NUML cannot be fixed
Last updated: 2002-10-23 11:38:54

The script commands for controlling the CAPS LOCK and NUM LOCK
keyboard status had no effect on Win95, Win98 or ME platforms.

Control of CAPS LOCK is now implemented, however due to a
limitation of the OS, control of NUM LOCK is not supported on
Win95/98/ME platforms.

NOTE: the SET CAPS/NUML script commands toggle the CAPS/NUM LOCK
keyboard state for other Windows programs running on the same
PC, so they should be used cautiously.

The user with the problem was using the SET CAPS script verb to
force upper case input to the mainframe. The preferred way of
forcing uppercase input to the mainframe is by unchecking the
specific configuration option:

  Settings->Emulation->Initial setup
[ ] Allow lowercase to host

Work-around: use the specific option to send only upper case to
the host, and rather than changing NUML for all applications,
use GLLAY to reconfigure the numeric keypad to be interpreted as
numeric values within Glink, regardless of NUML.
