Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0881: Glink, VIP7800 multiple lines with GCOS7 ED editor

Product: Glink
Platform: All
Status: Fixed in 7.2 for new configurations, work around
Last updated: 2003-04-11 11:29:34

The default VIP7800 profile on GCOS7/IOF resets the Space
Suppression option of the VIP7800 terminal. If the option for
'Line Delimited by CRLF' is off, the GCOS7 ED editor will be
confused by multiple line input when building or modifying a
file.

In Glink the option for CRLF termination is found in:

Settings->Emulation->Vip mode setup 'Add CRLF in non-SSM'

and was off by default. It will in future be on by default. The
CRLF termination option is ignored when suppressing spaces, all
lines are then terminated by CRLF. Space suppression is default.

Turning off space suppression is not a good idea when sending
multiple input lines to an editor in text mode, because you are
transmitting 80 characters for all input lines except the last.

It may be possible to adjust the profile of the VIP7800 in IOF.

Otherwise, space suppression can be toggled on manually in the
toggles menu during editor sessions.

The work around for the problem itself is to turn on the Glink
CRLF option described above. Then multiple line input will work,
but you will input 80 character records. A better solution is to
set space suppression.
