Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0885: Glink, IBM5250 HelpKey didn't redisplay on exit

Product: Glink for Windows and Java
Platform: All Windows and
Status: Fixed for 7.1.5 and 6.2.8, fix available for GlinkJ
Last updated: 2003-06-11 07:48:33

Glink's implementation of Save/Restore Screen did not work on
some AS/400 systems. The Help screen would remain after exiting
the Help system. The reason is that some AS/400 systems modify
the 'Save Screen' buffer sent from Glink that is supposed to be
returned unchanged by the Restore Screen command. In the dialog
below Glink sends:

   04 5B 39 39 38 78

which corresponds to a Glink internal "Esc [ 998x" restore screen
command. The AS400 modifies it on output and returns

   04 12 39 39 38 78

which Glink didn't recognize as its restore screen command.

The dialog you might see for a failing help exit:

AS400 'save screen' command:

  [16:55:03.127] In:(14)
  00: 00 0C 12 A0 00 00 04 00 00 04 04 02 FF EF

Glink TN5250 header:

  [16:55:03.127] Out: (10)
  00: 0B CA 12 A0 00 00 04 00 00 03

Glink internal 'restore screen' command to be stored unchanged
on the AS400 and returned later:

  [16:55:03.127] Out: (3378)
  00: 04 5B 39 39 38 78 0B B8 24 47 57 43 59 48 37 00
  ....

AS400 TN5250 header for restore screen:

  [16:55:06.737] In:(10)
  00: 0B CA 12 A0 00 00 04 00 00 05
  ....

AS400 returns the Glink internal 'restore screen' modified:

  10: 04 12 39 39 38 78 0B B8 24 47 57 43 59 48 37 00 ....

Glink has been corrected to prefix its own restore screen
sequence with 04 12, which corresponds to the standard
5250 Restore Screen command.
