Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0899: Ggate licenses can be lost by abnormal terminations

Product: Ggate
Platform: Windows
Status: Fixed in R6.2. Fix available for R6.1
Last updated: 2003-08-15 17:07:53

If the the listener did not terminate 'gracefully' (e.g. it was
brutally terminated with Task Manager or it crashed), active
Ggate licenses were not always released.

Ggate now automatically releases licenses that are held by non-
existent Ggate threads (belonging to the listener) when it
starts up. The automatic license release routine is performed
unless a new 'noclean' parameter is set i.e.

 -ncl on/OFF (default OFF)

This is mainly a problem for the Windows version of Host Links.
In the UNIX/Linux case, a Ggate session is a separate line
handler process - i.e. it does not belong to the listener and is
not likely to be 'lost' the same way. In the UNIX/Linux case, the
'noclean' parameter is default on.

Avoidance procedure: reboot the Host Links system.
