Known Errors

These are the known errors in our products, logged as reported with versions and platforms affected as well as corrections and work-arounds.

This list is largely historical, since it records all problems that have been reported throughout G&R history. Only the most recently reported problems still exist, unless you are using a very old copy of the product, in which case you should update the product to the most recent version.

E0972: GlinkWeb, Cmd prompt can be a single character field

Product: Glink Enterprise 7.2, GlinkApi (thin-client version)
Platform: All Windows
Status: Fixed for 7.2.2
Last updated: 2004-03-11 14:33:57

When you connect to TSS or any other application in TEXT mode,
the command line input field may only be 1 character long. When
the screen contains no input fields GlinkWeb generates a field
in the HTML form, to make it possible for you to enter a
command. If the emulator is initially configured for character
mode, the field is only one character long.

This problem can only be seen when the Glink configuration file
used for the GlinkWeb sessions is initially setup wrongly as
CHAR mode instead of TEXT mode. When connecting by Ggate, the
terminal type in Ggate overrides the initial terminal mode
settings in Glink, to match the emulation to the terminal type
and mode used in the connect. The GlinkApi code (glinkapi.exe
version only) wasn't correctly resetting the emulation to TEXT
mode for the corresponding terminal type in the Ggate connection
paramters, the incorrect initial setting of 'char' persisted.

The work-around is to set the initial configuration correctly.
In order to modify the Glink configuration you must start a copy
of Glink that has the correct configuration directory. Start a
copy of Glink manually using:

  Start menu->Programs->Glink Enterprise->Demo->TSS on System J

This startup file sets the Glink configuration directory to:

Then, using the Glink you have started, update the Glink configuration:

  Settings->Emulation->Vip mode setup->Init mode: TEXT

and then save the Glink configuration.

The Glink configuration files used for the "TSS on System J" demo

and these will be updated if you start Glink from the startup file as
explained above.

NOTE that the

files are READONLY, so you need to make

writable before you save. Also note that if config files are
writable the next Glink installation will NOT overwrite them,
and so after the modification you should change them back to
read only.
