This release introduces support for the 64 bit Intel Itanium processor family with operating systems Windows 2003 server, Linux and HP-UX 11i, Ggate support for TNVIP local dialog, Gweb screen identification and capture on the fly and further performance increases and improvements in stability.

As a result of our long-standing cooperation with Intel, Bull and Hewlett Packard the complete Gweb, Ggate and Host Links product set has been successfully qualified on 64-bit Linux, HP-UX and Microsoft Windows 2003 server operating systems. Companies looking for efficient, scalable and reliable network infrastructure solutions can now take advantage of the power offered by the next generation of servers. This release responds to the needs of the growing generation of highly demanding business applications and infrastructures including highly secure Internet environments with SSL encryption of network traffic.
We added a TNVIP handler to Ggate in the last release of Host Links so that users with third party TNVIP clients were able to take advantage of the performance available from G&R/Ggate mainframe connections. Some users were denied this performance increase because their TNVIP clients were programmed to automate logon using a specific local dialog with the MainWay TNVIP server. In this release Ggate supports a configurable local dialog for TNVIP clients, enabling any client population to migrate to Ggate for higher throughput and better response times.
Additionally we have added support for a menu based local dialog, both for clients that have an automated logon expecting it, and for those system managers who for security reasons wish to force their users through a logon procedure, but want to make it user-friendly by displaying a formatted screen to collect logon information.
Gweb is now delivered with an interface that can be enabled to allow any mainframe screen displayed by Gweb in a browser to be captured on-the-fly, and identified interactively by marking areas of the screen. The captured screens are stored automatically in the facelifting index, ready for enhancement using standard Gweb tools. This interactive and intuitive process greatly reduces the effort needed to build the Gweb facelifting index.
The HTML generated by Gweb is now at "4.01 (Strict)" level. Previous versions of Gweb used a 3.2 HTML level.
The generated HTML is greatly simplified by using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), for example for host colour settings and other attributes such as inverse and blink. It also applies CSS to information and error messages from the emulator, the mainframe's status line etc.
All of the products have been subject to rigorous benchmark testing both in-house and in cooperation with our partners. Our in-house load generation capacity has been significantly increased to provide us with test-bed capability for throughput and response-time testing beyond that needed by even our most demanding customers. The result is a release that will satisfy the strictest requirements as regards performance, scalability and reliability under continuous high load.
